Heat and Termites (and other wood-boring insects) call us today

Drywood termites are very destructive to any structure. The threat termites pose to a structure are real and ignoring this pest can be costly. The Associated Press reports:

* Termites can be hidden for 10 to 12 years before a swarm becomes visible,
* Homeowners insurance doesn’t cover termite damage,
* A small colony can devour a linear foot of a 2-by-4 in five months.

Termites - According to the California Department of Consumer Affairs the only two effective methods for total (whole-house) eradication are fumigation and heat. The ability for heat to penetrate inside of wood to kill dry wood termites makes the PureHeat process an effective non-chemical tool for whole structure eradication of these pests.

Drs. Forbes and Ebeling studied the effects of heat on dry wood termites. In 1987 they published the results of their studies and found that at a temperature of 130º F a 100% mortality of adult dry wood termite nymphs may be achieved in 6 minutes.
